Hey ~

Thank you so much for registering and/or tuning in to our recent webinar with the brilliant Allison Slater Tate to celebrate the launch of our new book, Powerful College Admission Essays: A Guide to Telling Your Story.

Now... real talk. If you noticed that the recording magically starts about 7 minutes into the event — yep, that was us. Well, me. Let’s call it a “strategic pause.” 😅

Here is the recording: Powerful College Admission Essays

What you missed was a lot of laughter, some heartfelt gratitude, and Brennan and I reminiscing about how we’ve known each other for 35 years - since our days as students at Westtown School. Basically, it was middle-age guys with gray hair talking about teenage dreams, enduring friendship, and how we ended up here.

Quick bios, in case you’re wondering:

👔 Brennan Barnard is a nationally recognized college admissions expert, a former director of college counseling, a father, and someone who believes deeply in ethics, empathy, and educational equity. He’s written for Forbes, Washington Post, and Harvard Graduate School of Education, and he’s one of the most thoughtful voices in the field.

✍🏾 Me : Shereem Herndon-Brown - I’m a former high school English teacher and school counselor with a Master’s from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English. For the past 19 years, I’ve run Strategic Admissions Advice, helping families navigate this wild world of college admissions with clarity, strategy, and storytelling.

Which brings us to why we wrote this book and what we believe: Storytelling is a strength.

In today’s college admissions process- especially in a post-affirmative action landscape- essays are more important than ever. They’re not just a chance to “stand out.” They’re a chance to be seen. And that’s powerful.

Thanks again for your time, attention, and support.
We’re honored to be part of your journey.

With appreciation (and a working record button this time),
